I have walked the life of dealing with challenging children in a very personal
and real way. I believe this helps me
understand at a deeper level the challenges the clients I serve face. I have provided a safe and loving home for pregnant teens, babies and youth.
Joan is active in her church, Peace Lutheran, and is on the Mission Action
team, which provides Vacation Bible School to local mobile home communities in
the summer. Joan has gone on numerous mission trips to be of service to others,
including Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Camp Barnabus in Missouri for
Autistic Spectrum and Down Syndrome children. Joan traveled to Russia,
Lithuania, and Estonia to provide services, care and support for the
orphanages. This again expanded Joan’s understanding and world view of poverty,
attachment disorder, the need for medical and mental health care. I have
special love for working with multi-cultural issues and special needs children
and their families.
My phylosphy in treatment stems from one of the professors at UNK who had a great impact on my own personal journey. Dr. Ken Estes often stated, just be with your client one day longer than they expected. My goal is to provide caring, committed, transparent, and respectful treatment for every client that walks through my door, no matter what their circumstances. I stive to show the unconditional love of Jesus to all my clients.
